Great Response!!
We have had a fabulous response to
the invitation to THE Wellington Reunion in November. Teoh Lay Hock tells
me the invitation is for all International alumni of Victoria University and
Wellington Polytechnic and their Kiwi friends from the late 1960s and early
1970s. He wants to pull in colleagues and friends from all over the
world, I think!! Fantastic! Thank you also to Margaret Wallace who I
understand is doing a great job contacting people.
People are registering daily.
If you are coming, it’s a good idea to
confirm and register/pay as soon as you can as we do have limited
numbers. Everything is organised for 120-150 people and we think that’s a
good number. You can Register Here to my email
and I will send you details on how to pay RM620 in Malaysia, Aus$200 in
Australia or NZ$210 in New Zealand – whatever suits you best. That
includes the Main Event Dinner/Dance on Thursday, 20 November, 2014 at The
Boatshed, Wellington. Any money over will be donated to the Gillies
McIndoe Research Foundation run in Wellington by Malaysian-born doctor and
researcher, Dr Swee Tan. Do look
at the video. He is inspiring.
Accommodation
I’ve had a few queries about
accommodation.
Near Te Papa and the Courtenay Place
cafes is my favourite for friends - the Museum
Art Hotel which has character and small self-catering
apartments.
Much cheaper and more basic but
nearby is the YHA which has individual
rooms.
The little Ohtel
is quirky and lovely.
Wellington has the usual hotels –the
Copthorne, Bay Plaza, Amora are all in the same area and they are all
listed on Tripadvisor.
You might like to look at www.airbnb.co.nz
for rooms in private houses.
We have asked if there is
accommodation at Weir House but haven’t heard back yet.
Messages
Professor John Davies has asked if
former Commerce students would like to visit the new Victoria Business School.
And I had a very nice message from
the New Zealand High Commissioner to Malaysia, H.E. David Pine, who spoke
warmly of the Victoria University alumni in Malaysia.
